Below is more detailed information about services/modalities offered. All are integrated into a session designed to meet your specific needs. Feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage therapy is designed to relax the entire body through the application of long gliding strokes that increase circulation and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. This style of massage has a host of benefits including increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, lowering cortisol levels (stress hormone), boosting the immune system, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Swedish Massage can be integrated with other services to provide a session specific to your wellness goals. Communication is encouraged prior to and during so that your service can be customized to your specific needs.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage has many similarities to Swedish massage with a focus on the deeper muscular structures and the application of deeper pressure to release chronic muscle tension. We will work on the deepest levels of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones, and joints) to improve chronic pain and tension by breaking up muscle adhesion (knots), lowering blood pressure, reducing stress hormone levels, and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of Oxycontin and serotonin. Keep in mind that deep tissue does not require pain to be effective.

Deep Tissue can be integrated with other services to provide a session specific to your wellness goals. Communication is encouraged prior to and during so that your service can be customized to your specific needs.

PRENATAL MASSAGE

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful compliment to your prenatal care. Massage relieves many normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage for pregnant women can reduce stress on weight-bearing joints, encourage blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension (which can aid in better sleep), and help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes providing a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Sideline positioning is utilized with supportive, soft cushions to alleviate the extra strain on the lower back and pelvic areas when the pressure of massage techniques are applied. Extra care is taken to ensure your comfort and safety at all times. Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from the variety of massage techniques however, women in high-risk pregnancies should consult their doctor or midwife before pursuing massage therapy. .

Cupping is a safe, traditional treatment that helps resolve chronic muscle tightness and pain faster than massage therapy alone. Dynamic, Stationary, Biomagnetic, and Intermittent techniques are used to create Myofascial Release and promote Lymphatic Drainage.

Cupping has many benefits including increased blood circulation to the affected area which can help relieve muscle tension, promote cell repair, and even reduce the appearance of cellulite. It encourages tissues to release toxins by focusing blood flow to help your body flush built-up toxins through the lymphatic system (the lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating your body’s toxins and waste). Cupping reduces anxiety by engaging your parasympathetic nervous system to promote deep relaxation through the entire body, slowing the heart rate, and assisting in digestion. Gentle cupping over the abdomen can be used to increase blood flow to the digestive tract stimulating the digestive organs and aiding peristalsis (contractions that push food through your digestive tract) helping to clear colon blockages, encouraging blood/body-fluid to move through the organs, and relieve indigestion. Facial cupping can also be used to assist with sinus congestion, headaches, and improve the appearance of fine lines.

You can choose to have a cupping-only session or add cupping to your therapeutic massage. Please note that cupping may leave marks on the skin for 2 days - 2 weeks.

MLD Massage is focused on supporting the lymphatic system and is characterized by slow light pressure that works on a fluid level (v. muscular as with traditional Swedish or Deep Tissue). MLD effectively reduces traumatic and post-surgical edema and can provide symptomatic relief of migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), stress, fatigue, and more.
